“Reyes Holdings is at the forefront of building sustainably.”
Pehr Peterson, Vice President of Construction
In line with our Reyes Cares program, the energy pillar is driving sustainability through smarter, more efficient facilities across the Reyes Family of Businesses. The Reyes Holdings (RH) Facilities Team works with our business units nationwide, to design, manage and improve facilities for greater efficiency and environmental responsibility.
Building on over a decade of upgrades, like transitioning to 100% LED lighting, we're now advancing green building initiatives and integrating zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs), including electric tractor charging at six North American sites. These efforts reflect our commitment to sustainable growth and responsible operations.
One of our most visible efforts is our enterprise-wide solar initiative. RFB now owns 25 solar systems with a total clean energy capacity of 19 megawatts. In 2025, new installations will go live at key sites including Chicago Beverage Systems, Gate City – Moreno Valley, RCCB – Alsip and RCCB – Los Angeles. These sites will offset up to 90% of their energy use.
“We often find ourselves teaching the engineers, architects and consultants… As we get better, we push the boundary to do more and more.”
Pehr Peterson, Vice President of Construction
By reevaluating and optimizing building systems, such as ensuring efficient HVAC setpoints or refrigeration equipment settings, we’ve cut energy consumption by as much as 40% in some facilities. We’ve recently shifted our attention to managing when and how fast buildings use energy. These strategies include:
Installing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) paired with solar
Implementing smart controls on HVAC-R systems
Optimizing charging for material handling equipment (MHE)
These efforts reflect our deep commitment to sustainability under the energy pillar. From cutting-edge solar systems to zero-emission vehicle infrastructure, we’re making progress that lifts those around us and leaves a better world for future generations.
While we’re excited to focus on our energy pillar, we remain equally dedicated to advancing the other three pillars of Reyes Cares.
Here’s a quick look at how we’re making a difference in these areas:
In community, Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling connected with local leaders, showcasing their operations, sustainability efforts and commitment to making a positive impact in the communities they serve.
In recycling, Reyes Beverage Group continues to lead in sustainability, diverting 60% of waste from landfills. Through its partnership with Northstar, it tracks recycling progress at each facility. Explore the latest mid-year update.
In fuel & emissions, Martin Brower won the Eco-Leader Award for its commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050 through the Science-Based Target initiative. The award honors bold action, innovation and sustainability leadership.
